Pinnacle International

Thanks to a strong track record developed over three decades, Pinnacle International has become one of Canada’s leading builders of exclusive luxury condominium residences, hotels and commercial developments. Based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Pinnacle is experienced in development, design, construction and management.

“Our core business is in condominiums, but we have worked on industrial, hotel, retail, office and restaurant projects,” says Anson Kwok, vice president of sales and marketing. 

Heart of the Action

Aiding in the advancement of communities is one of Pinnacle International’s calling cards. In greater Vancouver, the company’s undertakings include The Pinnacle condominiums in Yaletown, a number of projects in the Coal Harbour neighborhood and the revitalization of the heritage waterfront in North Vancouver through work at The Pier in Lower Lonsdale. 

“The Pier in particular is a large, masterplanned community where shipyards used to be,” Kwok says. “We spent a lot of time there, building a large banquet space, as well as a 100-foot pier before the project. We are committed to being a part of our communities and leaving a lasting legacy; we’re not there to just get in and out.”

Not all of Pinnacle’s work takes place in British Columbia. The company has a long successful history in Toronto, where projects include the Bellagio on Bloor and the Pinnacle Centre, a downtown waterfront community located at the corner of Bay and Harbour. Pinnacle is also in the middle of construction at The Pinnacle on Adelaide, a mixed-use condominium tower in the heart of Toronto’s entertainment district.  

“Pinnacle Centre is four towers and 2,000 units; it was a pretty intense undertaking,” Kwok says. “We were one of the first developers to look at this area as a growth neighborhood. We built in that location and it is now a growing part of city. We recently purchased 1 Yonge Street, a high potential site by the waterfront and have plans to redevelop the site.”

Other Pinnacle International efforts include the Pinnacle Grand Park in Mississauga’s city center, as well as Pinnacle Uptown in Mississauga, a masterplanned community at the corner of Eglinton and Hurontario. Pinnacle International’s work extends outside of Canada, as its portfolio also includes the Pinnacle Museum Tower, a high-rise condominium tower in San Diego. 

“As a developer, we are committed to finding the best locations possible,” Kwok says. “That is a prerequisite for any project. It must be a great location today or have great potential. We’ve done many city center projects that have accessibility to transportation and businesses, along with an environment featuring active streets. These are places where people can see themselves living.”

Long-Term View

Kwok says Pinnacle International is a purchaser-based company, one that dissects layouts to make sure they are designed with end users in mind. He adds the company tends to build bigger suites to enhance livability for their purchasers.

“We don’t build units that are under 500 square feet, even though that’s where the market seems to be headed,” he says. “We like open kitchens and great rooms. We feel that is part of what people look for, and we make sure space is functional and has great sightlines.”

Pinnacle International strives to take care of its homeowners. Its customer care department provides helpful information and delivers superior customer service. Customer satisfaction is critical for the company, and it makes every effort to see that homeowners’ needs are met as soon as possible.

Once homeowners take possession of their new homes, Pinnacle International provides customized homeowner manuals. These include information about the community, property management, service procedures, emergency contacts, maintenance issues, home appliances, electrical and heating, as well as finishes.

Pinnacle International tries to envision its projects 10 or more years into the future, instead of simply focusing on short-term results The company is excited about the potential of 1 Yonge in Toronto, and it will be focused on preparation and planning work for its project pipeline in Toronto, Vancouver and beyond.
