Kastler Construction stays at its clients’ side during projects.

Kastler Construction Inc. has set itself apart for more than 20 years with its services and an attention to detail. “We work with our clients on selecting all materials, which is unusual for most contractors,” President Rick Kastler points out.

Kastler Construction guides its clients through a full selection process of cabinetry, countertops, plumbing and lighting fixtures, as well as flooring, carpentry details, and paint colors. “We are truly a full-service contractor,” he says.

Based in Clawson, Mich., Kastler Construction specializes in custom new homes, additions, and exteriors, and kitchen, bathroom and basement remodeling. A longtime veteran of the construction industry, Kastler started his career as a laborer for a firm.

Over time, he moved up to different positions, learning various aspects of the industry including rough framing and trim. When Kastler saw a need for a firm that provided high-quality custom craftsmanship, he started Kastler Construction in 1996. A 2,500-square-foot showroom was built in 2015 to showcase the extensive cabinetry and materials selections.

Today, the company designs and builds projects in the metro Detroit area. “We even do outdoor living spaces and landscape work,” Kastler adds. “The owners of the business are involved from start to finish on every job.”

Blending In

Kastler Construction’s recent projects include a custom home in Grosse Pointe, Mich. The previous 1970s house, which originally covered more than 3,000 square feet, sat in a neighborhood of estate-like homes that were built in the 1920s.

As Kastler Construction tore down the house, it recycled as much harvested material as it could from the original home. When finished, “Only one dumpster of shingles and plaster went to the landfill,” Kastler recalls.

“The rest was given to a Detroit salvage company, and they resold it,” he continues. “When we can recycle and donate materials, we try to do that.”

Today, the new home spans approximately 6,000 square feet and features four bedrooms and four bathrooms, and a cedar shake roof with a two-story skylight tunnel in a central custom staircase. It also has a custom wet bar and three masonry fireplaces.

The home’s carved limestone and stucco exterior also blends in well with the surrounding residences. “People could go down the road insisting that there’s not a new build on that street,” he says. “It’s really hard to discern that it’s new.” KastlerInfo

Client Favorite

Kastler is proud of his company and the quality it provides, which earns it rave reviews on Houzz and Google. He maintains the quality level through weekly meetings with employees and holding subcontractors to his standards.

This hard work has paid off for the company. In addition to earning good reviews, “We also have many clients that have hired us for second and third projects,” he says.

“Client referrals are our greatest source of referrals,” Kastler continues. “We have worked hard to earn their trust and create a strong reputation in the marketplace.”

He expects Kastler Construction to stay busy in the near future. However, “You do hear rumbles in this area of the automotive slowing down a bit, which is why strong client relationships are so important,” Kastler says.

But he retains a positive outlook that Kastler Construction will continue to thrive. “I feel like we’re going to be busy,” Kastler predicts.
